Create an itinerary including Mount Kinabalu
Explore Mount Kinabalu, a towering mountain and World Heritage Site with a tremendous ecological diversity. As Malaysia's highest point, its summit (Low's Peak) reaches 4,096 m (13,438 ft) above sea level. Provided you're in good condition, you don't need any special equipment for the accessible ascent to the top. Elsewhere on the mountain, several rock climbing sites offer challenges for experienced climbers. The protected mountain and national park that surrounds it support around 6,000 species of plants, 326 species of birds, and more than 100 species of mammals, with star residents including the huge Rafflesia plants as well as the endangered orangutan. For this reason, it remains one of the world's chief sites of interest for scientists, nature-lovers, and conservationists. • The initial stage of the trail is quite steep, getting to the final hut prior to the summit is exhausting. The final rock is then rather fun to see sun raising over SE-Asia.

  • Amazing scenery and hike. Compulsory to engage local guide and stay 1 night at Laban Rata. Bring your own water as charges are expensive. Four stars due to the ever-increasing price hike on tourists imposed on this amazing mountain.
  • Awesome views, great people and laban ratan rest stop was a luxury. Routes can get really monotonous at the start, but it transitions from jungle > desert type > mountainous rock. Prepare for a lot of steps and rocks, and slightly risky slab with a useless rope section near the summit. Slope elevation can be tough (for long periods of time). Don't underestimate this. And enjoy the really great views above the clouds :)
