Brooke Museums is a non profit endeavour telling the story of one of the most remarkable kingdoms in history: Sarawak and its White Rajahs. Through two permanent mini-museums within Kuching's historic Fort Margherita and Old Court House, visitors are taken on a journey through four generations of Sarawak's history under the Brooke Rajahs. The Brooke Gallery at Fort Margherita features a collection of artefacts charting the early days of the State's historical journey, while The Ranee Museum showcases a unique collection of keringkam, songket and kebarung belonging to the first Ranee of Sarawak.

Inside our museums, visitors will learn why Sarawak's heritage ranks amongst the most remarkable in all of South East Asia.
For travelers who use our international travel planner, Kuching holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the The Ranee Museum and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Since we had visited Fort Margherita the other day, we also decided to check this out. If I recall correctly, there was a sort of discount for the entrance ticket because of our visit to the Brooke...  more »
  • Nothing in this visit cant be found on Google. There were a handful of artifacts, i expected to see more. It was definitely not worth the RM10 entrance fee.  more »
  • We had a great experience at The Ranee Museum. It was so interesting to read about the influence of the Ranee rather than her husband (there is a whole other amazing gallery for that - The Brooke Gallery). The Ranee Museum tastefully and informatively follows her from a young child, through to meeting her husband, their move to Sarawak and then how she became a much loved part of the Sarawakian community. Really interesting with some amazing and priceless artefacts. Location wise it is walking distance from the Main Bazaar and there is an amazing restaurant with great coffee - what else do you need!
  • Mini museum located at The Old Court House, Kch. If u want to visit the Fort Margherita after visiting the Ranee Museum, try to buy the explore ticket instead, entrance fee to the fort is included.
