Trip Planner: Malaysia / Wilayah Persekutuan / Kuala Lumpur / Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery
Eschew old historical architecture for the sleek complex of glass and titanium that houses Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery. The museum takes visitors on a journey through Malaysia's economic past and the bank's role in the nation's economic development. The art gallery underlines the bank's role as a patron of the arts, with over 1,500 contemporary pieces from all over the country spread out over six different thematic galleries. The museum includes a collection of ancient coins and money explained through multimedia displays, and also taps into the Islamic banking system and its compliance with Sharia Law. The museum and gallery have a special education area geared toward children, plus you'll find a coffee shop and gift shop on site. Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery Reviews
Quite informative, an enlightening view of Malaysian history from an economic angle. No entry fee (10MYR deposit required for cloak service), and a rather pleasant cafe attached for good light... more »
We are not Muslims so we didn't quite know what to expect - but we were soon astounded by the history, the artefacts, the architecture and the mosaical patterns that belong to no other race/religion..... more »
Love it. It's free to enter too. Parking is free when I went. Sadly I think not a lot of people know about this place. Great place for kids or anyone to learn about banking services. There's an art museum and games and exhibitions... I would say it's a good place for schools to bring their students for a field trip.
A nice place to just relax during a hot day of sightseeing. A hot uphill walk from Bandaraya station but the building is beautiful. I wasn't really interested in 60% of it but the stuff there was mostly quite informative (actually made me want to do further reading about the economic history).
