Visit Cheong Fatt Tze - The Blue Mansion, a historical building and museum. Built by the Chinese merchant Cheong Fatt Tze towards the end of the 19th century, the house displays influences from the design heritage of his native land, local Malaysian aesthetics, and colonial British style. Its distinctive blue coloration was achieved by mixing lime with the natural dye made from indigo plants, creating a hue popular during the colonial era. Designed in accordance with the principles of Feng Shui, the mansion exudes an atmosphere of calm and good fortune in many aspects of its design. • The Cheong Fatt Tze (Blue Mansion) will provide the visitor with a great introduction to Penang's Chinese heritage. Even its self-guided audio-provided 45-minute tour is informative and pleasantly...

  • Not sure why it’s rated highly. You have to go specific time to take guided tour probably at 11am and 2pm else like another building , absolutely nothing there.

  • Beautiful architecture and pleasant stay - to stay here is a bit like staying in a museum. High ceilings and antique furniture. As there are many original features, expects some quirks. The courtyards are lovely for relaxing in with a cool drink and a book. As is the swimming pool area. Staff were efficient and helpful. Great to see drinking water in glass instead of plastic bottles. Likewise, I appreciated the full size toiletries instead of the plastic minis. There’s a lovely friendly cat here too!
  • I didn't stay at the mansion but joined the tour last Friday. It was one of the best tours I had. The guide (a conservator) was a wonderful storyteller as she played a huge role in the mansion's conservation. She shared the ups and downs, the history of the mansion and the family. It was definitely more than 45 minutes and worth even more than RM26 ticket. Please book online prior to the visit. I definitely value UNESCO sites more than before. I would love to stay there next time!
